This is a very light multipurpose piece of gear – a poncho for hiking in the rain and a shelter for the night. It is made of white 26 g/m² DCF (Dyneema Composite Fabric), which is inherently waterproof. The poncho has an adjustable hood and bungee cords around the waist to keep it in place in the wind. When used as a tarp, roll the hood and secure it with the water repellent zipper. It has 8 attachment points to make the most classical tarp setups with trekking poles. This is a minimalist option for both shelter and rain protection, designed for the advanced long distance hikers and fast hikers. The poncho-tarp is a rectangle with size 3m x 1.5m.
Open the zipper and unroll the hood. Adjust the hood with the bungee cord as needed. You can use the adjuster as a button. Use the waist cords adjusters to button the back parts at your front and the front parts just under your pack.
Close the zipper and roll the hood. Choose the angle of the tarp so that the rain does not fill up the hood – easy if the zipper lies on the ridge line. We recommend to use trekking poles and the SwiftLocks line tensioners and carbon fiber or titanium pegs for the rigging. Guy lines, line locks and stakes are not included – you can check our options at the accessories section, but you can also use other gear or truckers’ hitch knots instead of line locks and save a few grams.
