There are many ways to connect two trekking poles for your higher shelter. With this simple solution you can do it very fast, adjust the height as you wish and you do not need any knots. We use a 2mm polyester cord, a SwiftLock hook for the adjustment and two specifically designed buttons to secure the free ends. It only weights 4.5 grams.
Instructions
Slip the two loops on the pole tips.
Adjust the height using the SwiftLock.
You can mark positions on the line for different setups.
While holding the poles parallel with one had, use the other to firmly wind the free ends around the poles.
Instead of knots, secure the free ends by turning them under the buttons a few times.
That’s it! You can also use the free end at the SwiftLock – wrap it around the poles and tug it under the lock.
To detach the poles simply unwind the free ends and pull the pole tips towards each other.
If you want to use the pole tips at the end of your big staff, you can simply attach the loops to the pole straps.
You might also want to shorten the lines a bit to minimize weight even further.
